Save with Restaurant.com and Coupon Codes

One way I have been able to save quite a bit of money dining out is by utilizing restaurant.com. They offer certificates for $10 or $25 dollars off your total order. We usually buy the certificate for $25 off, which can cost $10 to $15 to purchase, depending on the restaurant. However, we never pay the full $10 to $15. Instead, we utilize coupon codes. For instance, between now and March 16th, you can enter the code BITE to save 80% off the price you would pay for a certificate. Therefore, if you were going to buy a $25 off certificate for $10, after you enter the discount code, you only end up paying $2 out of pocket to get $25 off your total order!

The restaurants at restaurant.com list their terms. Many restaurants require that your total food order must come to $35, $40 or $50 in order to redeem the $25 off certificate. We try to pick the restaurants that have a low redemption rate of $35 or $40 instead of the restaurants that require you to purchase at least $50 to keep our costs low.

It is also important to remember that when you tip, you should tip on the food price before the discount is applied. Most restaurants state that an 18% gratuity will be added to your bill, but I have only had one restaurant actually do that. We do try to leave a nice tip if warranted (and we usually find it is warranted, especially when the waiters are going to have a messy 16 month old to clean up after when we leave).

If you have been wanting to try restaurant.com, try it now.
